Learn To Salsa The Easy Way !

Many people would love to learn how to dance, but never get around to it in the belief that they have no sense of rhythm, two left feet, or do not have a dance partner.

We are therefore run a course especially for complete beginners where no dance experience or dance partner is necessary - 8.00pm Tuesdays. After a few weeks you should be confident enough to show off your new moves at the Christmas party!

The main theme of this local salsa club is to have some fun. Many people come along just for the exercise, while others enjoy the social side of dancing. Some progress to our more advanced classes that run between 8.40 and 11.00 pm,  while others have more modest aims – taking a well deserved break from the kids !

Just dress comfortably and wear regular shoes (it’s easier than wearing trainers). Be sure to turn up promptly at 8.00 pm each Tuesday evening.

General Information

The theme of the evening is simply to have fun and costs just £6.00. A bar service is available all evening and there is no need to bring a dance partner. The lessons are structured so that if you are on your own, dance partners are provided.

Two separate beginners lessons run at the same time ( 8.00 pm at Bisley) . One is for people that have never danced a step of Salsa before in their lives, concentrating on a few extremely simple moves. The other beginners lesson is for those people that have had a few Salsa lessons and wish to learn additional beginners moves. This structure ensures that a "beginner" never feels out of their depth at any time.

Once you are happy that you know the basics, you may progress to the next lesson ( improvers ). As with all forms of dance, some people progress faster than others. This structure allows everyone to progress at their own speed - choosing the level they feel comfortable with and only progressing to the next level when they feel ready to do so. Similarly if a " improvers" wishes to upgrade to the intermediate lesson, they can do so.

Tuesday Nights at Bisley, Nr Woking, Surrey.

  • Beginners Lessons ( 1 class )
    8.00pm-8.45 pm
  • Practice / freestyle until 11.00pm
  • Improvers / Intermediate (2 classes)
    8.30pm-9.45 pm
  • Salsa Freestyle
    9.45pm-11.00 pm

Too many Salsa teachers rush through the moves and expect everyone to keep up. We pride ourselves in running small intimate classes, in which we take things very slowly and easily. To us Salsa is about style and interpretation of the music, not learning lots of fancy moves badly !!

Viktor is one of the most respected and sought after dance teachers in the UK. His exciting style of Salsa combines the best of New York Salsa, Cuban and LA. Above he is pictured with his dance partner Carol on BBC's Strickly Dance Fever presented by Granham Norton - April 2005.

Salsa is probably the most sensual and popular Latin partnered dance in the U.K. Viktor's unique way of teaching makes Salsa very easy to learn - even if you have never danced a step before in your life or are already reasonably advanced.

What to wear

The dress code is informal. There is no need for any special clothing or footwear, just come along in something that you will feel comfortable dancing in. Ideally your shoes show allow you to turn around easily on the floor. Trainers for example do not allow you to do so.
